Description
SemperFi Outsider USB Cable – Type-A to Type-B
The SemperFi Outsider redefines USB audio performance by physically separating the noisy +5 V supply from the critical data lines. Built from ultra-pure 22AWG OCC cryogenically treated silver, this hand-crafted cable delivers exceptional clarity, timing precision, and noise rejection for high-resolution USB audio systems.
Key Features
How the Outsider Design Works
In a standard USB cable, the +5 V power line runs alongside the data lines inside the same shield, allowing switching noise from the host device’s power rail to couple into the data path. The Outsider design routes the +5 V through a physically separate, shielded conductor outside the main cable. This:
- Reduces electromagnetic coupling between power and data conductors
- Minimises jitter introduced by power noise
- Preserves low-level audio detail and imaging
Compatibility
Works with
- USB DACs and audio interfaces with Type-B input
- Computers, streamers, and transports with Type-A output
- High-resolution USB Audio Class 1 and 2 devices
Does not work with
- Devices that require bus-powered operation and cannot use an external +5 V supply
- USB-C only devices without adapter

FAQs
Does the +5 V line still work?
Yes — it’s simply routed through a separate, shielded conductor outside the main cable bundle to reduce noise transfer.
Will it work if my DAC is bus-powered?
If your DAC requires USB bus power, the Outsider will still provide +5 V, but the sonic benefits are greatest when the DAC has its own external power supply.
Is this USB 2.0 or 3.0?
This is a USB 2.0 cable optimised for audio data rates up to 480 Mbps, which covers all high-resolution audio formats.
